Show what inspectors recorded at Middleton Manor · 2 strengths · 2 watch items
□ STRENGTH
Safeguarding (scored 3). Inspectors recorded that safeguarding systems had improved, incidents were investigated and reported to the Local Authority and CQC where applicable, and the provider worked with people and healthcare partners on what being safe meant to them.
□ STRENGTH
Workforce equality, diversity and inclusion (scored 3). The report notes an equality and diversity policy in place, with staff describing an inclusive, fair culture — for example, being able to adapt shift patterns for religious practices.
⚠ WATCH
Governance, management and sustainability (scored 1, recorded breach). The report notes shortfalls identified at the previous assessment remained at this one, action plans were not effective, and audits were either ineffective or insufficient to identify the issues inspectors found.
⚠ WATCH
Freedom to speak up (scored 1). Inspectors recorded that the provider had not displayed the Inadequate rating from the previous assessment on its website as legally required, and a relative said they had only recently discovered the home had been in special measures.
The honest blind spot. We can see the published pattern across all nine homes, and exactly which statements kept Middleton Manor’s Well-led at Inadequate in June. What we can’t see from outside is what’s changed inside the home in the roughly nine weeks since, or how ready Riverdale Manor and Yew Tree Grange’s evidence is for the first visits CQC’s local, risk-based scheduling could call at any time. That’s the gap the call closes.
